Former aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the just concluded Ondo State Governorship Election, Prince Jimi Odimayo has sent a congratulatory message to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, on his victory at the gubernatorial election held in the state, last Saturday.

Odimayo noted that the re-election of Governor Akeredolu for another four-year term was a reflection of total commitment and rededication of leaders and stakeholders across the 18 council areas of the state to party loyalty, which led to the resounding victory of the Governor at the election held on Saturday, October 10, 2020.

The youthful politician while addressing scores of party leaders and faithful that besieged his Arowolo Hotel and Resorts, Ode-Irele, his home town on Sunday, for a Victory party held in honour of Governor Akeredolu and APC, said the overwhelming support of Akeredolu at the poll was a challenge for him to do more for the people in terms of human and infrastructural developments.

He urged the re-elected Governor to particularly, look into the peculiar case of the people of the Southern Senatorial District, especially the total blackout situation of most towns and villages in the district for over ten years, as a priority in the second term.

Odimayo also expressed the need for Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to be humble and magnanimous in victory, and serve the entire people of Ondo State even more better by delivering more impactful and people oriented dividends of democracy in record time of four years.

He prayed for more knowledge and wisdom for Governor Akeredolu to guide and lead the people right, and deliver a brand new Ondo State, well developed in all spheres of life and human endeavours, where it’s residents are happy and living fulfilled life.

Roll call of leaders at the victory party included; former chairman of Federal Character Commission, Hon. Abayomi Sheba, former member of House of Representatives for Okitipupa/Irele Federal Consistency, Hon. Albert Akintoye, chairman of Irele local government, Hon. Ajimontokan, SSA to Governor Akeredolu, Barrister Femi Ogunjemirunwa, former member of Ondo State House of Assembly, Afolabi Iwalewa and Prince Adekunle Ayegbe

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Chief Returning Officer, Prof. Abel Olayinka has declared at the INEC state office in Akure: “That Olúwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu of APC secured the highest number of votes among the contestants. Moreover, he was expected to score at least one quarter of the votes in two-thirds of the local governments, but he succeeded in scoring more than 25 percent in all the 18 local governments.

“Also, the margin of lead is higher than the number of cancelled votes. Consequently, having satisfied the requirements of the law, I hereby declare Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN, as the winner and he is hereby returned elected having scoring 292,853 votes.

Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Eyitayo Jegede, clinched the second position with a total votes of 195,791 and won in 3 local governments of the state.

The Incumbent Deputy Governor of Ondo state, Agboola Ajayi, who contested under the platform of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), came third by polling 69,127 votes.
