OSHIOMHOLE SUSPENTION: AKEREDOLU RENEW FORCES FOR FRESH FIGHT OVER ONDO PRIMARY POLL

Following the affirmation of the suspension of the national chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole by the Appeal Court on Monday, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has reportedly renewed his fight against the embattled chairman.

It could be recalled that Governor Akeredolu, like his Edo State colleague, Governor Godwin Obaseki, had been engaged in serious political battle with Oshiomhole over the mode of conducting the July 20, 2020 governorship election primary of APC in Ondo State.

Akeredolu has been fighting tooth and nail at both the national and state working committees of APC agitating for indirect primary as mode to be used to conduct the Ondo State Governorship primary election and not the direct primary as widely supported by the National Working Committee of the party led by the embattled chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.

Akeredolu, a former President of Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) and Senior Advocate of Nigeria allegedly vowed to deal with Oshiomhole through legal means, and he has been all over the place, seeking legal lacuna to deal with the national Chairman.

However, a source within the National Secretariat of APC revealed that the embattled chairman has gone ahead to file a stay of execution against the judgement of the Court of Appeal, “and I am very sure with that move, Oshiomhole will remain in office and take charge to conduct the Ondo primary.

“Akeredolu must know that it is not over until it is over, and must not rejoice over Oshiomhole predicament, because the man is still in charge.

There was jubilations in Akeredolu’s camp since the news of Oshiomhole suspension by the court hit the airwaves yesterday, singing and dancing that the stumbling block on the path of Akeredolu reelection has been removed.

Akeredolu and large number of his political appointees were in Abuja on Tuesday, for the submission of his nomination form when the news came to town.

He has early meet with President Mohammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock Villa to seek the President endorsement of his reelection bid.

Like Obaseki, Akeredolu has been going around looking for support and endorsement of his ambition to rule Ondo State for another four year tenure, meeting notable APC national leaders for his candidacy as the July 20 party primary draw near.
