I, Yele Omogunwa, the Senator representing the good people of Ondo South Senatorial District, want to use this medium to appreciate my people and the leaders of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), for giving me the mandate to fly the flag of APC in the 2019 National Assembly election.
This mandate, which is divine with the support of the good people of Ondo state underscores the capacity of APC to engender dialogue, robust discussion and compromise to pilot its affairs, without recourse to disagreements.
I want to stress that I will strife to protect this ticket and mandate given to me, towards ensuring that the APC becomes victorious, not just in Ondo South Senatorial District, but in Ondo State and Nigeria. This is because of my unshakeable belief in the ability of APC to take Nigeria to greater heights with buhari bringing economic prosperity to the citizens. We must not go back to Egypt.
I am aware of series of reactions that trail my emergence as the party’s senatorial flag bearer, this is understandable in any political contest of this nature.
However the extent and dimension of some of these reactions went too far in expressing our disapproval of the process,there are standards which we are not suppose to fall. Wishing a fellow human being and party man dead for the sake of occupying a political office is a desperation taken too far. Some of these reactions reactions which came as a direct attack on my person, defaming my character in news paper publication and social media is not necessary. Individual has his/her own political records domicile with the public who are to judge ones character and integrity.
The Forgoing not withstanding,i owe no grudge with any one. God rulleth in the affairs of man and no one receive anything except it is given from above.
I therefore appeal to everyone to be patient and let us accept the decision of the party in good faith.
We must know one thing that, this is not the time for blame trading, name calling and mudslinging, but moment of focus, rejuvenation and re-strategising for the task ahead; the task of winning the 2019 general elections for our party, the APC to continue to make Nigeria better and greater. But this cannot be achieved without peace, unity and sense of purpose within the rank and file of the APC family in the state and the country.
Hence, I plead with all stakeholders to come together to build APC for a virile party and greater country, as any breach of the peace and harmony within the ruling party in the State, would be conter-productive. This is not the time for personal aggrandisement or agenda, but the time to think collectively for the sake of APC and Nigeria.
I want to thank the Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN), leaders of our great party in the state and the National Working Committee (NWC), for the inspiring leadership they are providing for our party and repositioning it for victory at the general election.
On a last note, I want to reiterate my unalloyed loyalty to our great party, the APC and it’s leadership and continuous support to President Muhammadu Buhari.
