
….Commends Governor’s Diligence, Cites Progress Across State Infrastructure
In a profound display of solidarity, leaders of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Ondo State convened to offer special prayers for the prosperity of Governor Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s administration. Led by Reverend Anselm Olorunfemi Ologunwa, the CAN delegation commended the governor’s swift and attentive approach to critical state matters, lauding improvements in infrastructure, sanitation, and the resolution of civil servants’ salary arrears.
The Christian leaders, while expressing heartfelt condolences for the late Governor Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, recognized his invaluable contributions to the state’s development. They congratulated Governor Aiyedatiwa on his inauguration, expressing optimism that his leadership would usher in positive changes for the state. Moreover, the Christian Association pledged unwavering spiritual and moral support for the success of the administration, emphasizing the importance of prayerful solidarity as the new year unfolds.
During their meeting with Governor Aiyedatiwa, the Christian leaders articulated some challenges and requests, including the need for an ecumenical center equipped with facilities like a church, auditorium, museum, secretariat, parking spaces, garden, and hostel. They sought the governor’s personal involvement in securing land for this purpose. Additionally, CAN urged urgent attention to the agricultural, educational, and health sectors, as well as the continuation of the return of schools to churches.
In response, Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed profound gratitude to the Christian leaders for their visit and steadfast support during challenging times. He acknowledged the impact of the prayers offered by the Christian community, both in the late Governor Akeredolu’s tenure and in the current administration. Reflecting on Akeredolu’s legacy, Aiyedatiwa highlighted the late governor’s significant contributions across various sectors, promising the government’s full involvement in ensuring a befitting state burial for Akeredolu, including active participation in the planned crusade by the Christian body.
Governor Aiyedatiwa welcomed CAN’s proposal for an ecumenical center and urged the association to submit a formal letter specifying a central location, assuring them of the government’s commitment to facilitating the acquisition of the land. Addressing concerns about food security and insecurity affecting farmers, the governor acknowledged existing challenges and affirmed continuous efforts to enhance security measures, emphasizing the importance of creating a safe environment for farmers. Regarding the return of public schools to former owners, Governor Aiyedatiwa promised to examine the proposal to ensure that any changes would not compromise the quality of education provided. He also provided reassurance on the shortage of health workers, confirming ongoing recruitment efforts.
