It was a night of honor, celebration, and inspiration as 15 distinguished personalities were recognized for their outstanding contributions to governance, business, security, philanthropy, media, and other sectors at the Hero International Award for Ondo State Outstanding Personalities of the Year 2025.
The prestigious event, held at the Dejavu International Event Hall, Alagbaka, Akure, brought together some of Ondo State’s most influential figures, government officials, entrepreneurs, security experts, and community leaders. It served as a platform to celebrate individuals whose dedication and leadership have propelled the state to greater heights.
At the forefront of the honorees was His Excellency, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, who received the Ondo State Man of the Year and Southwest Governor of the Year 2025 awards. The recognition highlights his visionary leadership, commitment to economic growth, and efforts in youth empowerment. Under his administration, Ondo State has recorded significant strides in infrastructure, industrial development, and inclusive governance.
In the legislative category, Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire (SAN) was honored as Outstanding Senator of the Year for his exemplary representation and development-driven legislative work. Likewise, Hon. Prince Jimi Odimayo, representing the Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency, was named Outstanding Legislator of the Year for his dedication to community development and effective representation.
The awards also spotlighted notable personalities in business and security. The Chairman of Tantita Security Services was recognized for his pivotal role in securing the Niger Delta region and combating oil theft, a crucial achievement in national security.
Engr. Mike Adeyanju was celebrated as Ondo State Personality of the Year 2025, acknowledging his philanthropic efforts in education, poverty alleviation, and community service. Dr. Oluwaseyi Joseph was named Outstanding Philanthropist & Human Capacity Developer of the Year, recognizing her contributions to empowering individuals through education and skills development.
The business sector was well represented as Mr. Oladotun Philip and Mr. Sunny Owoh were awarded for their impact in entrepreneurship and business development. Hon. Dipo Okeyomi (Carry Go) emerged as Outstanding Grassroots Mobilizer of the Year, while Snr. High Chief Idowu Asonja was recognized as Outstanding Security Advocate of the Year for his unwavering commitment to community safety.
In media, Mr. Ebenezer Adeniyan was named Outstanding Media Personality of the Year, celebrating his role in using journalism to drive accountability and governance.
Women’s contributions were also highlighted, with Dr. Taiwo Ajikeye, Mrs. Bukola Yemisi Kuti, Mrs. Modupe Oladele Bola, and Dr. Seun Bosede Osamaye honored as Female Role Models of the Year 2025 for their efforts in women empowerment and development.
The convener of the award, Dr. Sunday Akinbiola, in his address, emphasized the importance of recognizing individuals who have made significant impacts in their respective fields.
