Okitipupa LG Boss Appoints Rebuja as Chairman Chieftaincy Committee.

The Chairman Okitipupa Local Government, Omo’ba Abayomi Adesanya has approved the appointment of His Royal Majesty, Oba Gbadebo Bajowa, The Rebuja of Osooro Land, as the Chairman Okitipupa local government Chieftaincy Committee.

Rebuja’s appointment was done in compliance to the directive issued by the State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs that, the Chairmanship of Okitipupa local government Chieftaincy Committee be rotated among the three grade A Obas; Abodi of Ikoya, Rebuja of Osooro land, and Jegun of Idepe-Okitipupa, in accordance with the principle established in the extant Chiefs’ Law of (2006) in the State.

This is contained in a letter dated 28th May, 2020 to the Local Government Chairman and signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Segun Odusanya.

The letter read in part, ”the Chairman Okitipupa Local Government Chieftaincy Committee should henceforth be held in turn (rotated) among the three grade-A Obas in the LGA for a period of two years”.

”It added that necessary machinery should be put in place to ensure that Kabiyesi, the Abodi of Ikoya, HRM Oba Babatunde Faduyile, who had been holding the position for a very long time should handover the position to any of the two grade-A Obas in the LG for a period of two years in consonance with the practice across the 18 local government areas of the State, where we have more than one grade-A Oba.

The LG boss, Omo’ba Abayomi Adesanya in his congratulatory message described the choice of HRM Oba Gbadebo Bajowa, by the management of the Local Government, as the will of God and reward of his exemplary leadership.

He therefore enjoined Oba Gbadebo Bajowa, who was enthroned as The Rebuja of Osooro land, on the 26th of November, 1977 (43 years on the throne) to use his wealth of experience as custodian of cultural and traditional values to reposition the traditional institution to better the lives of all and sundry and every Ikale sons and daughters

Rebuja is the second longest reigning Oba in Ondo State. (43 years on the throne) after Owa of Idanre (44 years on the throne).

Meanwhile, Oba Bajowa expressed delight at his appointment, saying he returned all glory back to God Almighty.

Bajowa, who was enthroned in Nov. 26, 1977, said the new position would avail him the opportunity to use innovation to move the traditional rulers and the council forward.

“I thank God and the state government and pray that God will grant me the wisdom to use new innovation to move the obas and the council forward,” he said.
