– Groundwork Launched for 28km Road: From Iyansan to Iju Osun, Expect Smooth Cruising Soon
– Governor Bags Chieftaincy Title as ‘Jagunmolu of Iyansan’
In a day marked by hearty laughs and promises, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, APC gubernatorial candidate and the man with arguably the longest to-do list in Ondo, assured the Irele community he’ll keep a respectful distance when it comes to picking their next Oba. Speaking during his campaign stop at the Irele Multipurpose Hall on Friday, Aiyedatiwa pledged to stay firmly in his lane, letting the kingmakers call the shots.
“Whoever the kingmakers choose will be king,” he assured, perhaps hoping the kingmakers weren’t listening too closely just in case he changed his mind. “I only urge them to follow due process,” he added, with a smile that suggested he might know something about lengthy processes.
The governor took a moment to give a not-so-gentle nudge towards his achievements, mentioning that his administration has been busy laying the groundwork for the 28km Iyansan-Ajagba-Akotogbo-Iju Osun road. For those tired of bouncing along potholes, this might be the smoothest promise yet.
In a heartfelt moment, Chief Adeniyi Samson hailed the governor as the punctual paymaster of Ondo, noting his promptness in handling salaries and gratuities. He added that on November 16, the residents would be out in full force at the polls. Apparently, there’s something about getting paid on time that makes folks rather enthusiastic about casting votes.
The Odogbo of Omi, Oba Olorunsola Akinyelure, backed up Chief Samson’s sentiments, giving a regal nod to the governor’s supportive stance toward traditional rulers. “You’ve given us the means to handle our responsibilities. You have listening ears,” he stated, implying that having a governor who actually listens is somewhat of a royal rarity.
Barrister Remi Olatubora, SAN, brought the rally to a crescendo, promising a record-breaking margin in Irele’s voting history. “We’ll give you a margin no one has ever had,” he promised, which might just mean voters in Irele are planning to vote with both hands.
In a grand finale, the Governor’s tour ended in Iyansan, where Oba Akinyomi Olasehinde, the Laaragunsin of Ode Iyansan, bestowed him with the chieftaincy title ‘Jagunmolu of Iyansan.’ With this title and the community’s resounding support, the governor wrapped up his visit with a grin, undoubtedly looking forward to a few more royal honors before election day.
