Following his burning desire to serve, the billionaire business mogul and Igbotako born APC stakeholder, Barr. Jimoh Ibrahim, CFR, has announced officially his interest in contesting as a Senator to represent Ondo South Senatorial District in the upper chamber of The National Assembly.
While intimating APC leaders and party men and women of Okitipupa of his senatorial ambition, he said he is motivated to join the Senate race because of one major desire and the desire is to bring light back to the district, noting that absence of electricity in Okitipupa and its environ has returned the people to the dark age, adding that if he goes to the Senate , he will ensure withing two years that Ondo South Senatorial District is connected to the National Grid, adding that he will resign his seat if light does not return to the South of Ondo State after two years of his membership of the Senate.
The founder of Fortune University Igbotako said he wants to add his professional savvy and experience to the legislative business in the National Assembly and he is poised to ensure that as a Senator representing Ondo South, he will provide maximum empowerment across the Senatorial District.
Saluting the role of women in politics, Barr. Ibrahim specially appreciated the contribution of Ondo State First Lady, Chief Mrs. Betty Anyanwu- Akeredolu as an Amazon and hegemonic personality who has used her office to advance the course of growth of women and the girl child in the society. He described the Ondo First Lady as another Mother Teresa, blazing the trail for women emancipation.
Ibrahim, while appealing to party stalwarts said the people of his district should give him the benefit of the doubt, adding that as long as it is God who makes all things possible, he will rely on God’s Divine support and the overwhelming votes of the party’s delegates at the forthcoming APC primaries.
He reiterated that Gov. Akeredolu’s disposition supports the presentation of the best candidate in the district for the office of the Senator of Ondo South, stressing that as a Lawyer, a business analyst, an entrepreneur, a holder of the exalted honour of CFR, he is capable enough to represent the good people of Ondo South in the National Assembly.
In his reaction, former Chairman of Okitipupa Local Government Council and APC leader in the local government, Chief Ayeniyi thanked Ibrahim for coming. He said the people of the district are not unmindful of the great feat of Jimoh Ibrahim in the private sector and they will be excited to have the Araba of Ikale land as their eyes and ears in the Senate.
Among the leaders of the party at the consultation with Jimoh Ibrahim are Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Okitipupa Local Government, Mr. Bode Ikulala, Vice Chairman, Mr. Sesan, Chief Ayeniyi, Chief Beke, Chief Ayenumelo, Barr. Lema, Hon. Aduwo and others.
Barr. Ibrahim and his entourage also visited Irele Local Government to consult with party leaders. In his entourage were great party leaders including Omoba Jimi Odimayo, Hon Akintoye Albert both Aspirants for house of Representatives in Okitipupa / Irele federal constituency, Hon Akinbiola Oluwatobi Nicholas, former chairman, Irele local Government, Omoba Adesanya Abayomi, Former chairman, Okitipupa Local Government, Bar Femi Okunjemiruwa, former LG Boss and many others.
Ibrahim, a business tycoon, also made clear promise during his visit to Ese Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State on Friday where he met the APC leaders and delegates.
The aspirant promised to work with people of the local government area and partiner together with them for positive transformation.
He noted that his primary purpose of contesting the seat was to empower the party’s delegates , youths and women in the senatorial district so that they could make a good meaning out of life and also facilitate reconnection of the senatorial district to the national grid.
According to him, he feels pained to seeing the district living in total darkness for over 10 years.
“My desire is to bring light back to the district. Absence of electricity in Ondo South and its environ has returned the people to the dark age,” he said.
Ibrahim assured the people that if he got to the Senate, and could not facilitate the reconnection of the area to the national grid within two years, he would resign.
He added that he would do his best that would make the people smile.
Appreciating the aspirant, One of the leaders and former Ese Odo Chairman, Hon Iji Iwarere, thanked Ibrahim for the visit,saying that good antecedents of the aspirant would speak for him.
Iwarere noted that Ibrahim has capacity and intellectual wherewithal to make positive impacts in the senatorial district and make a good representation in the Red Chamber of the National Assembly.
In the same vein, High Chief Biboprie Ajube while hosting Ibrahim in Agadagba Obon, said that it was gladdening that Ibrahim would be contesting.
Ajube, popularly called General Shoot-,At-Sight, noted that ‘Jimoh Ibrahim for Senate is our Project’, asking Ilaje, Odigbo, Irele and Ese Odo to come together and work for victory of the aspirant.
Ajupe recalled that he personally advised Jimoh Ibrahim to contest for the senate seat, promising that he would give him 100 per cent support for his overall emergence as Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Ibrahim, who had been to Ilaje, Ese/Odo, Okitipupa, Irele, Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo and Odigbo local government areas of the state, said in Ile-Oluji/ Oke-Igbo Local Council Area that his senatorial ambition was to better the constituency.
Ibrahim, the Chairman of Nicon Insurance, said on Saturday in Ile-Oluji that there was need for the senatorial district to have a good representation in the Red Chamber of the National Assembly for adequate dividend of democracy.
The business tycoon, who met with the the party’s delegates and executive members of Ile-Oluji Oke-Igbo Local Government, explained that he had made payment of N22.5 million to the building of APC secretariat in Akure.
Ibrahim, who owns Fortune University, Igbotako, promised the party staunch members and the local government executives that he would influence restoration of electricity supply to the southern part of the state.
“My main thing that I want to do is to connect light to Ondo South.He said.
” I know and I am aware that you have light here in Ile-Oluji but four other local government areas don’t have light for the past 20 years. This I will look into and proffer solutions through lobbying and influence.
” Also, I want to empower our youth and women, the delegates and leaders of our great party,” he promised.
The senatorial aspirant assured the party’s leaders and delegates he would offer best representation.
Responding, the Executive Chairman of Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo Local Government, Honourable Michael Temidayo Akinsuroju, promised to work for Jimoh Ibrahim’s emergence in the Senate.
” We are with you, we will support you,” he said.
Jimoh Ibrahim, therefore, rounded off the visit in Odigbo Local Government Area where he spoke extensively on his capacity and boldness to bring desired change to the constituency.

Here is a man who had cared for himself early in life an image of a future great personality. He lived a life of purpose as someone who had a clear understanding of his vision and held on tenaciously by engaging only in activities that would further his aspiration. It was not surprising to many of his friends and acquaintance when he’s being the talk of the state to represent the people of Ondo Southern Senatorial District in the coming Election.
Barr.Jimoh Folurunso Ibrahim was born on February 24, 1967 in Igbotako, Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State.
He attended the famous Obafemi Awolowo University,Ile – Ife where he obtained the Bachelor of Law Degree and subsequently the Masters Degree in Public Administration with distinction.
Thereafter, he proceeded to the prestigious Harvard University, Massachusetts, USA and obtained a combined Masters Degree in Law and International Tax.
He was called to the Nigerian Bar as Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
Barrister Jimoh has deep experience in tax administration,tax reform and financial management.
At one time he served as Chief Executive Consultant to the Federal Government of Nigeria on Petroleum Tax Payment, Collection and Monitoring; Member, Federation Accounts Allocation Committee; and Chairman, Special Committee of the Federation Accounts.
At another time, he was a Consultant to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Tax Reform in Croatia and Lithuanian; Consultant to the Federal Government of Nigeria on Value Added Tax; a key member of the team that designed tax reform for the state of Bangladesh; Head of the Nigerian delegation to the United Nations Conference on ‘Governance and Public Administration’ held in Hong-Kong 1994.
As an astute entrepreneur, Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim is the Group Chairman of the Global Fleet Group and the NICON Group, a conglomerate that cuts across diverse sectors of the Nigerian economy.
The former comprises, among others, the Global Fleet Oil & Gas Limited, Global Fleet Industries Limited, while the latter is made up of NICON Insurance, NICON Properties Limited, NICON Investments Limited, NICON Luxury Hotels and Air Nigeria.
Barrister Jimoh brahim is also the publisher of the Mirror Newspapers.
He was appointed the Chairman of the Corporate Affairs Commission,Abuja in 2009.
In recognition of his numerous contributions to the development of Nigeria, Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim was awarded the prestigious National Honour of the Order of the Federal Republic of Nigeria(OFR) and later with Higher Honour of Commander of Order of Federal Republic (CFR).
Ibrahim equally has a PhD in Management Science, University of Cambridge, UK and his currently doing a PhD in modern war studies University of Buckingham, UK with his thesis in Boko Haram and military challenges.
To date he has received four Honorary Doctorate Degrees from different Universities in Nigeria including that of his alma mater, the Obafemi Awolowo University where he was conferred with the Doctors of Business Management, Honoris Causa, the first of its kind to an Alumnus and the youngest person ever to be so honoured.
He is also a graduate of three World best universities; Oxford University, Cambridge University both in England and Harvard University, U.S.A.
His contributions to his immediate society has earned him multiple traditional titles including that of Araba of Ikale Land.
Currently, Ibrahim is building a world class University, Fortune University Igbotako established on 150 hectares of land . It is the first Private University in the entire Southern Senatorial District of the State which is expected to commence with four schools (Faculties of law, medical and biological sciences, management and bussiness) with 76 building of which 51 are already at various stages of completion.
Jimoh Ibrahim is a widely travelled industrialist and philanthropist.
His hobbies include reading and public speaking.
