In the 1960s, God poured out His spirit upon the Church and the America Christians were so busy with the wonderful revival that they retreated from government. They gave the government to humanists and atheists. One of the aftermath was the extraction of simple prayers and Bible readings out of schools. The simple prayer they had used to pray was: “Almighty God, we acknowledged our dependence upon Thee, and we beg Thy blessings upon us, our parents, our teachers and our country”. The book reads “we are currently reaping the whirlwind for our lack of accountability. Because of our sin of complacency and carelessness concerning the governance of our nation. Since then, premarital sexual activities of students have increased more than 200%; pregnancies out of wedlock are up almost 400%; gonorrhea cases are up more than 400%; and the number of suicides are up more than 400%.”
Those are very few of the results when a nation removes God out of their governance and public life, saying it does not matter. Such indifference angers God. I understand a certain audience segment of the Nollywood are complaining that our movie producers use the name of God too much; agitating to remove God from that very influential industry. Many of us who have God have perpetually “boxed” Him in the church, being shy to take Him and His principles along in our public and business life.
As I was informed, a policy is being enforced in Kwara state stopping mission secondary schools from praying in Christian way and stopping preachers from coming to speak to students on assembly grounds. We do not acknowledge what the society benefits from such age-long character-building initiative when it continues.
Does that not call for an awakening? Not only to pray but to also be involved and cease to be complacent. If the campus revivals that produced many of today’s church leaders had rightly guided some of them into governance and other public domains, we will not be where we are today.
As we approach a very important time to decide the future of our nation, in the House of Assembly and Governorship elections, Presidency , let’s be conscious to keep Nigeria in God’s hand. And whoever becomes the, President, Governors and Lawmakers, let us watch their policies and not slumber in the matters of our God. We’ll be doomed without God..
The love and concern for this Nation and what you desire for it extend your resolve that this country must be Great again. It’s a victory brought about by the resolve of the people who shares in your vision to either change a Government that careless about the people or vote for continuity of any good government.
Therefore,I join millions of Nigerian to Celebrate this auspicious occasion in Our Political history.
May God continues to strengthen you as you pilot the affairs of Great Country if elected.
