Cairo Ojuogboh, a former member of the House of Representatives representing the Ika Federal Constituency in Delta State and a prominent figure within the All Progressives Congress (APC), has passed away. According to a family source, Ojuogboh tragically passed away on Wednesday night while watching the AFCON 2023 semi-final match between Nigeria and South Africa.
Reports indicate that Ojuogboh collapsed during the later stages of the game at the Stade de la Paix in Bouake, particularly as South Africa was awarded a penalty. Despite the efforts of those around him, he could not be revived.
The match concluded in a thrilling 4-2 penalty shootout victory in favor of Nigeria, advancing the Super Eagles to the final of the AFCON 2023 where they would face the host nation, Cote d’Ivoire.
Ojuogboh’s contributions extended beyond his political career, as he also served as a former Executive Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). His passing marks a significant loss for both his community and the political landscape in Nigeria.
