The Orangun of Oke-Ila Oragun, Osun State, Oba Adedokun Abolarin is redefining qualitative education with the establishment of Abolarin College in the state, for brilliant but needy students
Twenty-eight students of the Abolarin College, Oke Ila-Orangun, passed the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) as they all surpassed the cut-off score of 150 marks that JAMB stipulated for admission into tertiary institutions.
While 15 students scored 200 and above, 12 of them scored between 180 and 199, while one person scored 165. The highest, Master Gabriel Micheal had a total score of 266 in his subject combination, while Master Sadiq Adebayo scored 165.
It was the first public examination for which the students from the less privileged background would be sitting since the establishment of Abolarin College in September 2014.
Abolarin College has made a deep-rooted impact in capacity building and empowerment of children from impoverished backgrounds. The lawyer-turned monarch set up the tuition-free and all-boarding college to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor, on the one hand, and attempting to eradicate poverty on the other side.

“The students are given personal laptops, school uniforms and bags, prescribed textbooks, learning aids, as well as writing materials that would enhance their learning. I am a traditional ruler and a Christian. I celebrate diversity,” he stressed.
Abolarin College allows the students to express their potential under a conducive and inspiring ambience. The traditional ruler also teaches a number of subjects at the college.
On the achievements of the students, Oba Abolarin said: “Naturally, they are gifted, resourceful and creative. They go for spelling bee and cultural and art competitions and emerge either first or second position.
“They won the 41st Duro Ladipo Memorial Art Competition for schools in Osun State last year. The students won awards for the best storyline, the best producer, and Sefiu Tijani won the best male actor. They made me happy.

Mrs Ademosu is a Senior Special Adviser on Intergovernmental Relations to Ondo State Government. She is the brain in charge of the Federal Government Social Investment Program (SIP) in Ondo State, which encompasses Graduate Empowerment program called NPOWER, Home Grown School Feeding Program (HGSFP), TRADERMONI,GEEP and MARKET MONEY.
Sequel to her office assignment, she relates with youths and women largely.
Relating with youths or women to some extent is delicate a job. And to a reasonable extent is an awesome opportunity to build young people and position them for a better future engagement. Her adequate knowledge of this fact have helped her accomplished more in areas of youths empowerment, mentorship and motherhood responsibilities.

Prof. Mojisola Christianal Adeyeye,emerged the Nigerian Outstanding Female Role Model of the Year.
Dg NAFDAC, Professor Adeyeye moved NAFDAC out of insolvency within a year.
Director-General of National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, yesterday, explained that she had moved the agency from insolvency to solvency by paying off its N3.01 billion debt she inherited on assumption of office within one year.
Speaking in Abuja, during a virtual NAFDAC Staff Recognition Award event and DG’s Annual Message, Mrs Adeyeye, who said there when insanity, when who, took over as head of the agency, explained that his administration specifically inherited the sum of N2.3 billion.
Recalling the challenges she faced on taking over as head of NAFDAC, she said: “I inherited N2.3 billion. There was insanity, we started working on to bring sanity into the system.”

The Award Committee stated that the Platform’s Management was impressed that the awardees had distinguished themselves in the various aspects of human life in 2022 and were, therefore, found worthy of being accorded honours and due recognition of the nation’s most Outstanding leadership Award platform.

According to the committee, “Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje , holder of the National award of Order of Federal Republic of Nigeria (OFR), is being awarded the Governor of the Year for his immeasurable contributions in the area of Outstanding Leadership traits and employment generation. He is one of the most consistent political Leaders in Nigeria and has employed also more that 1000 people in his State and has brought unprecedented development to his state,”
The Kano government disbursed over N4 billion as assistance to local seed producers. It also trained 72 farmers and extension agents on safe and effective use of pesticides, environmental issues, and seed certification.
The Ganduje administration recruited 729 extension workers and trained them in partnership with national and international development agencies.
It also approved the distribution of motorcycles to the newly employed extension staff on 40 per cent loan discount.
The government (re)constructed over 20 metropolitan and rural roads in areas like Yusuf, Bompai, Kwaranga, Dakata Bella, Kings Garden Tudunmurtala, Burumburum Siyasa, and Kibbiya Rano.
Although not yet completed, work is ongoing at the Murtla Mohammed flyover bridge that is expected to help ease traffic congestion in the area.
The administration sent 100 youth for training at Peugeot Automobile. It also empowered about 10,000 women by training them in various skills including tailoring before buying equipment for them to start their own business.
The government also distributed sanitation vehicles to about 200 women for door to door sanitation exercise.

Alhaji Almed Idris, according to the committee, won the Best Public Officer of the Year Award in 2021. He is being honoured for his efforts at ensuring stability in the federation Account.
Mr Seinde Fadeni also emerged the Nigerian Energy and philanthropist of the year.
Seindemi’s rough road to success has inspired him to provide services to humanity. This he does through the Christopher Alice Foundation of which he is the Founder and Sole Proprietor. The Foundation, named after his parents {Christopher(dad) and Alice (mum)}, is the corporate social responsibility arm of GMT Energy Resources Limited, and through the NGO, he intervenes in the areas of youth empowerment, health, education, among others. In this connection, he gives scholarships for education, provides health care services to the needy, takes care of the widows and the aged in the society, among others. Through the foundation, he has special programmes for outstanding law graduates to whom he gives free computer sets and sponsorship all through law school. Four times a year, he funds medical checks for members of his native Ode-Aye community.
Seinde’s philanthropic gestures also extend to many other charity organizations, including the Gold Crest Family Centre, Ketu, Lagos, of which he is a director. The organization takes care of widows, their children and orphans. Only in 2018, this model of moral excellence single-handedly provided and furnished the Wesley Methodist Church, Ode-Aye with an ultra-modern cathedral (valued at about N400,000,000) while he donated a set of laptop computers to each of the graduating students {with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.5 and above} of the Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Ikeji-Arakeji, even as he gave the overall best graduating student a cash prize of $10,000. He also used the occasion to donate a sum of N10,000,000.00 to the entrepreneurship centre while at the same time pledging the provision of a befitting library for the University. These excellent initiatives, his self-sacrifices, generous, incalculable financial supports, moral inspiration, and his voluntary bearing of excusable societal burdens perhaps informed the conviction of a young Nigerian journalist to write a book in his honour. The book titled “Seinde Fadeni Oladapo: A Quitessential Role Model”, publicly presented in July, 2017 was an expose on a consummate businessman’s passion and dedication to assisting humanity.
